Be content and willing to serve where God has you.

Be Teachable ( Guidance from parents and Church – other Godly couples can be a wealth of knowledge on things to do or avoid.

Allow time for the young lady to seek God in Prayer.

Set up guard rails as a couple and with parents
( advise setting expectations and limits )
The guardrails are there for safety and to avoid a catastrophe
Find someone to mentor you as a couple ( be accountable)

Courtship can be exciting and exhilarating but there is also a serious component to it as well. ( ALERT – there is no perfect boyfriend/girlfriend. – they are human and will make mistakes.

There may be a time to break off a relationship.

Hands off courtships have a way of building trust. ( exercise self control in your passion towards each other.
The fruit of the spirit is Love…

1 Thessalonians 5:22 ( what type of example are you showing.)

treat your lady friend they way you would like other men to treat your wife.
Have common courtesy. (If you are out on a walk and you come across a log, help the lady across. Now, if you are out looking for logs so that you can help her cross… it is no longer common courtesy.)

Avoid worldly movies, magazines, books also unedifying jokes and conversations.
Be aware of the false narrative/unattainable expectations that are portrayed in modern media.

Purify our hearts before God
Pray often, for each other, with each other and pray for others/ the church
Have a Bible study – discuss spiritual topics, what you have learned in personal devotions, thoughts on the sermon

Be open and honest about your past and who you are today

Discuss goals and visions.
Child training.

Length of courtship – It depends on a multitude of factors – can not just put an arbitrary number
Allow adequate time to learn to know each other.
Hands off courtships help keep the emotions from getting involved before their time ( don’t just follow your emotions.)

Keep it simple and God honoring
Don’t be completely insular, try to do a service for others
