Intentional Courtship Part 1
Start with self reflection – Who am I?
Where is my relationship with God?
Spend Time in prayer.
Contentment – Find fulfilled where God has us. 1 Timothy 6 –
Character – Is my foundation strong in God? Is it shallow.
They type person you are will affect who you attract. Diligent, Honest, Faithful or shallow flirtatious and Egotistical.
( Would I allow my son/daughter date a person like me, with my aspirations/Goals,
Courtships built on emotions are lacking in foundation. ( parable of the wise man and the foolish man.)
Built on Jesus. – Christ centered courtship.
Rooted in purpose, spiritual growth and allows God to lead with His Will in our lives.
NOT ALL COURTSHIPS END IN MARRIAGE.
Courtships ending can be a tool used by God to allow for growth.
The world’s way of dating, directly contradicts God honoring courtship
World’s way
– self-centered – ME – my desires
– Try them all to find the one.
– Lack of commitment – haphazard – shallow
– Lust based – Beauty
– Popular / cool/ $$$
Godly Courtship
1. Christ centered – looking out, be a blessing to others
2. Intentional pursuit of the young lady’s heart – End goal in mind
3. Commitment to learn to know the person you are in a relationship
4. Focused on God’s will, a person who loves God whole heartedly
1 Peter 3:3,4 – Not focused on outward adorning but the internal meek and quiet spirit.
Humility diligence respect
Titus 2:2-8 – Young men be sober minded

4. Seek Council from respected people in your life
5. Ask God for guidance
Conclusion
1. Love God with all your Heart – God first in your life
2. We need to cultivate a daily relationship with God
3. Jesus as your foundation – build your life on Him
4. Spend time in the Law of the Lord
5. Seek God often in prayer.
6. Be content where God has you – Live to the best of your ability in present circumstances
